What if I am not flexible?
Perfect! You do not have to be flexible to start a yoga practice. Yoga brings flexibility to the body. Yoga postures are strengthening and stretching at the same time. Yoga is really about exploring your limits and not striving to achieve some pretzel-like perfection. One of the amazing gifts of yoga is exploring your personal strengths, limits, imbalances and learning to work with them as they currently are.
I arrived a few minutes late to class and the door was locked. Why is that?
At Zanti Power Yoga we make it a priority to respect everyone’s time. It is disruptive to students for others to enter the class late. At ZPY we start class on time and end class on time and we lock the door for the safety of our students. Please show up early so you can be sure to get your yoga practice in!
Do you offer beginner classes?
Yes! Zanti Power Yoga Introduction to Power Yoga (Z1) is designed for the beginner. This class is unheated and it is recommended to take at least 5 to 10 Z1 classes before moving on to Z2. ZPY also offers a variety of classes so all levels and abilities can practice yoga.
Why practice in the heat?
The heat warms your body and muscles; allowing flexibility and a deeper stretch to muscles, tendons and joints, encouraging sweat to detox the body, improves circulation and enhances the functioning of the immune system. The heat is just another added element of the class. Always listen to your body! Proper hydration before, during and after class as well as rest when needed will set you up for success!!
My child would like to attend class with me. Is that allowed?
A minor between the ages of 12-18 can attend class with the written permission of the parent and/or guardian and accompanied by the parent and/or guardian. We do not recommend anyone under the age of 12 to take classes other than kid’s yoga.
What should I bring to class?
Please bring a mat, towel and a bottle of water. The studio rents mats and towels and sells water. We suggest wearing tight-fitting work out clothes to class, as heavy, loose clothes can be a hindrance in class.
Why Yoga? What are the benefits of yoga?
As Stephen Cope wrote in “Yoga and the Quest for the True Self” - Yoga is probably the world’s most perfect form of exercise. It cultivates cardiovascular health, and musculoskeletal strength and flexibility, without the painful and damaging side effects of high-impact aerobics. It tunes up every organ system – respiratory, digestive, reproductive, endocrine, lymphatic, and nervous. It cultivates the body’s capacity to relax and dramatically reduces the negative effects of stress. With a regular yoga practice, we breathe better. We sleep better. We digest our food better. We feel better.
At Zanti Power Yoga we believe the benefits of yoga are endless and include strength, flexibility, mental clarity, stress reduction, ability to focus, improved sleep patterns and another way to get more in touch and in tune with your body. A regular practice of at least 3 times a week is recommended.
What does Zanti mean?
Zanti is a derivative of Shanti, which means peace. Zanti means peace of mind. Zanti Power yoga – finding peace of mind through breath and movement.
